Try This Two-Minute Hack for Improving Consistency
Can we all agree that trying to be perfect is exhausting? đ
Well, one of the biggest myths out there is that you have to get everything right to make progress.
You know how it goesâŠ
If you miss one workout or splurge a little too much, you feel like youâve blown it, so you give up entirely. Sound familiar?
But hereâs the truth:
True success isnât about being perfect â itâs about being consistent, even when things arenât ideal.
You have two choices. You can:
- Crush one âperfectâ week of workouts and meal prep, then burn out and do nothing for the next three.
- OR show up at 80% (or more!) every week for months, even when life throws you curveballs.
Which one do you think gets better results?
Spoiler: Itâs the second one.
Here are two POWERFUL strategies to rewire your mindset for consistency:
1. Celebrate âNon-Zeroâ Days.
This concept comes from the idea that any effort is better than none. Walk for 10 minutes? Do a few push-ups? Add a side of veggies to your dinner? Itâs a win. The goal is to avoid having a day where you do nothing for your goals.
Some of my clients have a âNon-Zero Jarâ where they put in a quarter every day they do something for their healthâno matter how small.
2. Use the 2-Minute Rule.
On days when motivation is low, tell yourself you only need to do two minutes. Just two! Thatâs usually enough to get you started and of course, youâll likely want to keep going! But even if you do stop, youâve still kept the habit alive. (Plus itâll count as a non-zero day đ)
One of my clients uses this trick with meal prep. She tells herself sheâll just chop veggies for two minutes. Most of the time, she ends up prepping everything she planned for.
Perfection gets you stuck. Consistency keeps you moving forward.
Itâs not about being perfect â itâs about showing up, over and over again.
Hereâs to progress, not perfection.
